Along the Hood Canal in Puget Sound at the “Big Beef Creek” estuary in Seabeck WA, eagles and other birds gather to feast on the small fish trapped in the oyster beds by the “minus” low tide. This is a world-famous place for excellent eagle and heron photography.

The local camera club I’m a member of (Olympic Peaks Camera Club) organized a field trip to the place on May 31, 2022. This was my first time shooing birds and it was amazing! I took over 2400 photos (lots of high-speed bursts to catch the action) and narrowed it down to these top “keepers”.

I wanted to give a “shout out” to Bonnie Block, one of the club members that helped organize this trip. She is an accomplished professional bird photographer with a world-class portfolio. She won the 2016 Audubon Grand Prize Photography contest with one of her eagle photos. Please check out her website Field and Farm Photography.
